A Note About Rank Choice Voting
Minneapolis uses rank choice voting (RCV) to determine who gets a seat on the city council.
1. Voters will rank candidates in order of preference on the ballot: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
2. All First choice votes are counted. If no candidate wins enough votes, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated. This is when second and third choice votes matter!
3. You are not required to rank more than one candidate. However, if you are happy with more than one candidate and rank them, your ballot has more power!

For more information and resources regarding rank choice voting, see vote.minneapolismn.gov.
