What's online caucusing like?

No one really knows. It's an adventure! Click each step to learn more.

Caucusing is a way that neighbors come together to learn about candidates running for election and to discuss the issues they care about based on party affiliation. Neighbors usually break off into smaller groups based on candidate and issue preferences (subcaucuses). After a head count for the number of people interested in a candidate or issue, subcaucuses are given a certain number of delegate spots for attendance at a ward or city convention that occurs a couple of months later. If there are more people in the subcaucus than delegate spots, the subcaucus decides who will represent them at the delegate convention. Caucuses usually take place over the course of an evening at your regular voting location, but THIS YEAR IT WILL BE ONLINE.

I'm ready to caucus for Alicia!
